Maggie Pearson Brownlie Trophy Mixed Open Scramble 2017

A local team of very happy golfers won the third Maggie Pearson Brownlie Open Mixed Scramble at Burntisland on Sunday 1st October.
Porscha Wilson, Alastair Maxwell, Alan Howie and Fraser Hutchison put together a fantastic score of 53.4 to win the splendid Trophy, donated by the Brownlie family, and take first prize.
Alastair, current Captain at Burntisland Golf House Club, summed it up for the team: “We’re all absolutely delighted. We knew and loved Maggie and it’s very special to win this competition, and to help raise money for cancer charities in her memory.”
Maggie Pearson succumbed to breast cancer in March 2015. She grew up within sight of Burntisland Golf Course and loved her golf, and the mixed scramble format fits with her personality – fun and competitive at the same time. She and her husband Scott benefited from the services at Fife’s Maggie’s Centre in Kirkcaldy. Thirty-seven teams took part this year, and although the final total for charity raised is not known yet, early indications are that it will be over £4,000
Not far behind the leaders in second place were Gardner and Anne Brownlie, with Kevin and Clive Friend, on a score of 54.3. Ally, Robert and Tracy Beattie with Fraser Melville took third place on 55.2.

The Scratch prizewinners were Alan Anderson, Kevin Weir, Fiona Hastie and Ian Scott, with a brilliant 57.
